Successful release

Yesterday, we were able to execute a successful release of the new code. We've tried to do this release several times but it failed for one reason or another each time.

There were two main goals during this release: to increase performance, and to take better advantage of our orphan mining code to increase profitability.

The biggest changes you'll probably notice, however, are that the system's orphan rates are now lower, and that there are some new website features. Perhaps the most significant website feature is one that was requested by many customers for over a year - the ability to "forfeit" balances. With this new feature, you can get rid of coins that are worth less than a cent by donating them to the pool if you want to delete payout addresses and clean up your settings page. More information is available in the documentation.

We also modified the page's top bar to stay above the fold when the user scrolls down, so that bar takes up less page space.

Today, I'm going to improve orphan mining on the last ten or so coins, implement a new feature that reduces work restarts, and see if there are any performance improvements that can be made to the website, given that some customers have complained that their cellphones are performing too slowly with the website.

Expect profitability statistics to be all over the place for a day or two until the system adjusts to the removal of the hacks that Chris had been using to make sure profitability was accurate.

Feel free to offer comments or report bugs.

Hi Steve,
I just tried the forfeit feature and it got rid of them on my settings page but they still show up on the main page.

I've been trying to reproduce this issue and haven't been able to do so.

Which coin did you delete?

Never mind. I think I corrected the issue.

Chris forgot to change the definition of a column from NOT NULL to nullable. Try again and tell me if you have success.

When I press the forfit and then save they will go away but then when I refresh the page they come back..This is on the settings page. I tried it with Vegascoin, Potcoin, Sexcoin, Solarcoin, and Goldcoin.. They all do the same thing.. Not a priority to me but thought I would let you know. And Vegascoin It was dropped a while back.. If you want to look at my account and try it yourself my account is same as my name here case sensitive if that matters.. Feel free to delete the coin wallets that I just mentioned above. Maybe it might help you figure what the problem is. Thanks

Thanks for the report. I'll look into this issue later tonight. There was a problem that was fixed, but I guess there must be another bug that was hidden by it.

Hi Critterdog,

Thanks for the report. The website was lacking database permissions, and I resolved the problem. You should now be able to forfeit the balances you don't want.

Thanks for the report!
