Ethash Proswitching after ETH 2.0?

Post by ToeKnee » Sun May 23, 2021 10:32 am

Was wondering the direction I need to take after ETH mining stops (proof-of-work [PoW] -> proof-of-stake [PoS]). Even though mining ETH coins with the Ethash algo itself will one day stop (PoW halts), acquiring Eth 2.0 coins will still be possible through Proswitching, hopefully. Basically, I'm asking about my rigs. I have them configured to use the Ethash algo, and I'm sending Ethash to Proswitching.

Will I need to reconfigure my rigs to use a different algo after Eth 2.0 or does Prohashing have a few other coins that use the Ethash Algo? Would the recommended action be to switch all my rigs from Ethash to Etchash, or from Ethash to Kawpow, or even to some other graphics-card supported algo?

Right now, the decision is easy. I'll keep my graphics cards rigs on Ethash and send the hashing to Proswitch and let Prohashing decide what's most profitable. But when ETH goes away, do I still continue to send ethash to proswitch or some other algo?

Questions, questions, questions ...

There are other coins using this algorithm, they just got regrouped into Ethash low memory (under 4GB). On top of that, there's a decent amount of PoW coins that can be added as well in the future, perhaps ERGO?

Like many of us, including the pool admins, we would have to look at what we have, what makes us the most money, and make those changes.

So if you use ethash low memory, your algo doesn't change, just your port number and your a= argument.

But as been said multiple times here. They have been talking PoS for years, and it still hasn't happened.
