- Our main goal for the next week is to concentrate on performance. I've never seen a system where every time we improve performance in one area, another bottleneck just appears somewhere else.
- There appear to be two main problems with performance. The first involves inserting shares into the database. We significantly improved the performance of share inserts last week by removing some detailed records from the database, and yet they are still behind. If Chris's minor improvements this week don't make a big difference, I will reevaluate our entire way of inserting shares.
- The second issue involves simply processing text that is coming into the mining server from users. We made some changes and Chris is going to release them any day now, but they will only improve performance by 25%.
