Restart Testing Issue

Starting today, one of my miners is apparently failing the work estart testing. Titan_1 has not had a problem with it before today, and titan_2 is not showing the error msg. Did something change with how the testing is done? I can say with relative certainty that nothing changed on my end.

As Steve summarized in the development section, we now have a maximum work restart testing time so that any miner that gets stuck and never submits a share during the testing time would be assigned a default value. Steve has the timeout set for 30 seconds; if you don't submit a share within 30 seconds of connecting to the pool, you are assigned a default 1 second restart time. I think he set the timeout too low; I'm going to increase it to 1 minute. Let me know if that fixes the issue. I may still need to increase it more based upon your feedback.

That seems to have brought the joy. Than-q!

Hi,

I still have the same issue. My Titan has been kicked to my backup pool at least 6 times today for 10-15 minutes at a time.
And I still see the error when my miner gets back to your pool.

Errors: This miner is not responding to work restart testing, so a suboptimal default value was chosen. Use the r= password argument to manually set a default value.

Sadly, the error has returned to my earnings page, as well. FWIW, I have a 2nd Titan which bounces bfgminer every few minutes, and is not having this issue.

I changed the time to 600 seconds, effectively disabling the feature. Steve will investigate it further whenever he gets the time. Please let me know if that works or does not work. I may need to revert to a previous version if there are still problems.

So far, so good. I'll check it again when I get home.

I'm mining on my backup since last night.
Since there is a hardware upgrade planned for tomorrow (or Tuesday), I will be pointing it back as soon as the server upgrade/maint. is done.

Yep. It's still working fine. I call it good.
