A few brief thoughts for today:
  • I found out that some blocks were not inserted into the database during periods of heavy load, as designed. Accounting for these blocks will further reduce the number of false positive low-luck miners when the change is implemented this afternoon. However, the missing blocks only account for a small portion of the reduction in luck.
  • The investigation into the cause of low luck mining continues today. We've been working with customers to perform some testing and have identified some reproducible test cases; however, we won't be able to provide any more information on this for another week or more.
  • I wanted to remind everyone that mining will be offline for 15-30 minutes tomorrow while the new mining servers are installed.
  • Constance released three bugfixes yesterday to eliminate some issues with worker status and some of the charts. Today, she's working on implementing recaptcha for user logins, which will completely eliminate the problem of automated bots calling user/checkpassword two million times per day.
  • Over the next week, we anticipate very long support times due to the hardware and network upgrades, and the training of our new employee. New employees, no matter how smart, initially decrease productivity because of the time required for training. Once Vance has been trained, we expect support ticket times to not only return to normal, but to get better than now, since some of Chris's tasks will be performed by Vance.
