Here's a few noteworthy things we did yesterday:
- Chris fixed the issues he was encountering with balances and payouts, and re-enabled the new code. After fixing website issues this weekend, next weekend our focus is going to be on trying to knock off trading and balance issues.
- On Memorial Day weekend, Chris will be traveling to the hosting center and performing upgrades to the servers to handle SHA-256 mining. He purchased an off-lease server. He's also going to add eight 256GB solid state disks to the coin daemon servers, because we determined that those servers are limited by disk performance, not by CPU usage. There will be no mining server downtime, but static coin miners will be affected when their particular server goes offline for an hour to install a disk in it. When the holiday is over, Chris will have prepared the servers to handle the 175 new coins necessary for SHA-256.
- The mining server now maxes out at 40% even when it is under its heaviest load. Yesterday, I improved performance and restarted the mining server after noticing a memory leak where miners who were disconnected by the server for an error condition like misspelling a coin name would not have their state garbage-collected. This issue was yet another one that had been present well before the x11 release, but wasn't noticed until performance became critical. We are generally performing one restart per day, in the evening, to slowly roll out bugfixes.
- This weekend's tasks (in order): fixing website issues, doing whatever is necessary to make the system NiceHash and MiningRigRentals compatible, and correcting trader issues to make Chris more efficient at customer service.
