I am mining 50 coins, and getting paid in 1 coin. Since the coins I am mining are NOT the coins I am earning for my payout, I really am NOT mining coins. So I think SHARE and not COIN, as if I've not found a block I haven't found any coins for that day. If I never find a block all day I still get a payout. I am mining a 'SHARE' worth a dollar value equivalent not a COIN.

If I was mining coins I would have 50 different payout coins showing up from the daily autopool mining. If you want to mine COINS and not a $ value equivalent, head over to mining-dutch. Each of the 50 coins you mine, you earn those coins and then YOU have to decide if you want them converted or kept in the native coin that was mined. HERE I never see the coins I mined, they are converted to a $ value equal in the coin I wish to be paid in.

If you were solo mining, then yep, you are mining coins. I am mining SHARES that are worth X and that X buys me Y number of coins I want to be paid in. At no point in time do I get a number of any of those other 50 coins in my payout, unless something in the pool is broken or there was a fork we haven't read about yet.

CSZiggy - you and I both agree that we're gettings shares, not mining coins directly. But in this case, I think the point is that due to overall market conditions, mining is less 'rewarding' at the moment and PH are getting less dollars on the market for our mining effort and therefore have less Dollars to hand out. So our shares of the payout may be the same, but it is a share of less dollars. If the dollar payout is less, then PH can buy less of our selected coins, so the number of coins we get is less.

I swapped from an NLG pool to PH because the price of NLG had dropped so much, my 'dollar share' at PH was buying about 20% more NLG than I was getting at the NLG mining pool. But now PH are earning less (that's what it seems), then my payout in NLG was also reducing.

Anyway, I don't *know* - but I assume this is the case. That's why I made my original post - I wanted to verify that everyone was experiencing the same thing and it wasn't just something I was suffering from.
