Rejects is a matter of how quick pool do change your mining coin or how often your mining coin network is making new blocks.
So, there must be 2 reasons:
1. Some change in miners distribution - because of new algo by Steve or Chris, for example, that redistributing miners to quickly on different coins.
2. For somehow, many low diff coins on a top of profitability, that changing diff and profitability too fast. So pool need to make new distribution of miners very quickly

And by the way, 1. reason can be eliminated.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll add a ticket for Chris to investigate this issue.
The most likely cause is that the mining server has insufficient performance and the number of customers at peak periods causes it to focus all its effort on processing shares rather than being able to send new work to miners quickly. The charts you provided will allow Chris to compare against historical performance data to determine if that's the case.
