A quick update before getting started today:
- Last night, we declared the mining server performance improvements a success. We don't anticipate restarting the server any more, and the system is positioned to handle loads 50x larger than the current poll size going forward. Thanks for your patience!
- Chris is addressing a performance issue with the block explorers, where address searching would take too long to return results. To deal with the issue, we need to add a new column to denormalize a database table. Updating the 1.2b transaction rows across all coins will take about 64 hours, during which time the block explorers will not be able to be searched by address. We apologize for this inconvenience and expect that all updates will be finished by Sunday.
- Our focus this weekend will be on website improvements. We determined that the homepage has a bounce rate of 90%, which seems high. We're going to try to determine why and make corrections. There are also other things we identified, like changing around keywords (you'll see how the homepage now has "multipool" on it, instead of "mining pool," which is a less frequently searched term.)
- We resolved an issue where clicking on the "question mark" help icons would sometimes leave users at the top of the help page, instead of scrolling them down to the correct topic. The behavior seemed only to affect some people, but we fixed it and already deployed the change.
