Shares Found - 250 GH/s vs 4 TH/s

Post by dragthor-1 » Sun Sep 19, 2021 8:14 am

Hello everyone. I have two miners pointing at prohash FPPS sha256. One is at 250 GH/s and the other is at 4 TH/s.

It seems like the 250 GH/s miner gets more shares per 2 hours than the 4 TH/s guy. Is this right? The 250 GH/s miner is set at the minimum difficulty (d=1024) whereas the 4 TH/s miner is: n=bitman01,i=v9

Does the 4 TH/s guy "make more" per share because of higher difficulty?

Thanks.

Yes, value comes from difficulty of the share not the number of shares.

The difficulty of a share determines its value (higher diff = more value) and frequency (shares per 2hrs) determines how often value is made. So your 250GH/s miner earns value more often, but the amount of value per share is less than your 4TH/s miner. You can use that to help figure out your profitability for each but obviously your 4TH/s miner is going to make more value over time than your 250GH/s miner just by sheer hashing power alone.
