The purpose of the restart is to add two new API fields required by a company that will be bringing in 8,000 new miners to us within the next month.

8000 new miners, what are they going to be mining? BTC?
Re: Mining server restart today
Dang, 8,000 new miners is quite the catch! I assume these new API calls will be publicly available to use as well?

The API information has already been updated on the website. Two new fields were needed: all_time_share_count and all_time_total_difficulty. The fields allow subscribers to estimate how much data was missed if their Internet connection goes out.
The miners are GPUs, so they'll be mining ethash; and later, etchash.
