Zelcash mining to be suspended on April 10
Unfortunately, we decided to suspend Zelcash mining starting in about 14 hours. Earning in Zelcash will not be affected.
Zelcash is issuing a fork tomorrow to a new network - "Flux." Mining the new network requires considering several additional "charity addresses." We reviewed Zelcash's website, but were not able to find sufficient documentation to easily implement this new requirement. There is a pull request with some Javascript code, but the code has no comments as to what each part is doing, so we can't easily translate this code to our system without being able to understand which parts are necessary.
The section on what miners need to do on the Zelcash website simply redirects to this pull request, rather than providing a link to a document that has a detailed explanation of the theory behind the changes. The website itself is heavy on marketing speak and flashy graphics, and the git repository itself, the most important part of any coin, isn't really even mentioned until the bottom of the page.
The Zelcash testnet does not have any nodes that have the full blockchain, and we were not able to find a list published by the Zelcash developers of full testnet nodes through all major search engines. We can't proceed without being to test our code on the testnet regardless of whatever other documentation we could find.
There are also other issues with Zelcash that make this change particularly difficult to implement. For example, Zelcash will now be the only Equihash coin that doesn't support "z" addresses, which would require additional work to treat Zelcash differently than these other coins. We're also concerned about whether the amount of work being thrust upon miners and exchanges due to this fork is going to cause widespread discontinuations and make the coin be delisted from all exchanges that accept US customers, because they don't see a way to earn a profit after doing all the upgrade work.
After reviewing the options, we decided that focusing on re-adding an algorithm that supports CPU mining, like RandomX, would be a better focus at this time. Most of the 20 customers who are mining Zelcash would likely be more profitable mining ethash for the next month, and we'll be glad to assist in that transition.
We may come back to Zelcash in the future, and we apologize for the inconvenience!

Hi Steve.
Please join their Discord server here: https://discord.gg/7akz77UB
There is a dedicated channel to pool operators where all the technical stuff can be answered and i'm sure this can be worked out.
Flux is an awesome project that is expanding offering cross-chain assets and a nework of over 1000 computational nodes with dedicat hardware that can run dockerized apps.
There is a lot of cool stuff coming from them.
Please come to the discord server and everything will be cleared up.
Thank you!

I'll definitely try that sometime next week. Unfortunately, at this point, there is no longer enough time to complete testing before their fork, though.Pitox wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 11:15 am Hi Steve.

In addition to there not being enough time, I want to see whether exchanges continue to support Zelcash after this fork. Some may continue on the old fork, like Yobit always does with its coins, and some may discontinue it. We don't want to spend thousands of dollars, only to find that the coin is discontinued on all exchanges, which has happened in the past when a coin changed like this.
Re: Zelcash mining to be suspended on April 10
Let me make your research easier.
Here is a list of exchanges that are supporting Flux and have already changed from Zel to Flux:
Kucoin: https://trade.kucoin.com/FLUX-USDT (They surpassed 1mil $ volume for the first time on Kucoin after the swap)
Trade Ogre: https://tradeogre.com/exchange/BTC-FLUX
Stex: https://app.stex.com/en/basic-trade/pair/BTC/FLUX/1D
Bitforex: https://www.bitforex.com/en/spot/flux_btc
Here is official annoucement from exchanges:
https://www.kucoin.com/news/en-flux-get ... -on-kucoin
Tomorrow Flux will be listed on Coinmetro:
https://coinmetro.com/blog/flux-zelcore ... he-masses/
MXC have demanded $$ for the swap and they won't support the swap (for now)
They have released the Flux-KDA parralel asset which gives Flux exposure to the Kadena DEX.
Also, next month they are releasing Flux-ETH parralel asset which will get Flux on Uniswap and the likes, and after that Flux-BNB, Flux-TRX will follow.
So liquidity will not be a problem and the Flux swap has support. Zel will not be supported by anyone and will retire.

Have a nice weekend?

As one of those miners, I was mining Zel/Flux because the memory on my GPUs for most of my mining rigs won't support mining ETH and Flux is becoming just as profitable as ETH.Steve Sokolowski wrote: ↑Fri Apr 09, 2021 10:01 am After reviewing the options, we decided that focusing on re-adding an algorithm that supports CPU mining, like RandomX, would be a better focus at this time. As for assisting in the transition, what do I need to configure in order to mine ETH with GPUs less than 4GB, I read somewhere there was a new implementation for low GB GPUs to mine ETH but I haven't seen the algorithm for it on Awesome Miner.

No. Not yet. We focused our time on RandomX, and have a great announcement about that today.Pitox wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 5:15 am Hi Steve,

After RandomX, my focus will be on creating a "CPU quick start" guide, creating a YouTube video for advertising, and then I'll review Zelcash again.
