Updates on algorithms

Equihash<144,5> will be coming online later today. It was temporarily disabled on Monday after a customer identified that the algorithm was incorrectly implemented. The mining servers will be restarted to implement the changes.

We've decided to disable and delay CryptonightV1. We've found that all of the coins for this algorithm are either very difficult to implement, or that there are showstopper bugs in their official clients. For example, it is well known that the Electroneum client has a bug where the API refuses to send money after a specific sequence of actions happens, making it impossible for us to automate payouts in the coin. As is becoming more and more the case, programming is easy but finding documentation on how things are supposed to work is limiting us.

We're going to redirect resources that would have otherwise been spent on CryptonightV1 to try to identify why SHA-256 hashrate has declined dramatically in the past two weeks despite its profitability rising, and to take action on what is found. We might return to CryptonightV1 in April.

olkah, I think they want to make sure what happened to Neoscrypt doesn't happen to the CN1. They spend hours and hours and hours to get it up and working, to find out they now earn 5% per day on $2.00 worth of daily payouts. Wonder how many years it will take to ROI at $0.10 / day.


Any new coins being added to the up and working CNv8?
The strength of the pool comes from mining the most profitable coins and being able to select payout in coins other than what you mined.
CNv8 having only 1 coin means it never swaps or finds any higher profit than that of a pool with a static port to just mine that 1 coin.

Apparently Monero Forked yesterday, They dont use CNv8 anymore they use CNv4, It seems the only coin that has followed monero thus far is Lethean.

You could Add it as it is traded on Stex.

This is sort of ridiculous. There is no way we could possibly keep up with this.

If Monero did fork, I think that's a sign that we should be focusing on the core algorithms of scrypt, equihash, x11, and SHA-256. After thousands of dollars spent on version 8, I don't know how we can keep up with this.
