Payout drop-off

Post by cdt » Thu Jul 23, 2015 9:15 pm

Is the drastic decline in payouts due to the recent maintenance? I'm having trouble understanding why payouts today would still be as low as they are compared to recent history if all the maintenance has been completed. I might chalk this up to the vagary of the market, but I noticed network hash levels are considerably lower too. Maybe because some miners have moved to other pools? Would anyone mind enlightening me? I'd like to understand this.

The stats for Tuesday and Wednesday are incorrect; you should be earning much more than the estimates state. The algorithm we use to calculate daily earnings averages the pool's payout over the entire day. However, since the server was offline for parts of those days, the estimated earnings for those times was recorded as 0, thus making the day's average earnings abnormally low. The earnings that will be reported at 12AM EDT will be correct since the server was online the entire day.

I can't explain why pool the hashrate is lower. Our server is working properly. Maybe some people switched to other pools in preparation for the maintenance and haven't yet switched back? Or perhaps they are looking at the incorrect earnings? I have never found a good correlation between hashrate and number of customers. It seems that on the days with the most customers, we have relatively low hashrate and vice versa.

Ah okay, well thank you for clarifying :-)

It's interesting and odd that there isn't a direct correlation between the amount of customer and the hash rate. You'd think there would be a fairly linear relationship!

There was some Stratum downtime for my miners today between 18:00-19:00 UTC -07:00 time. Not sure if it's related, My earnings are on Par with what they were previously despite other multipools declining substantially in the last 48 hours compared to their previous 7 day averages.

ETA: Shares were accepted but the database has not yet posted the work to my dashboard...
