Worker performance has dropped significantly

Post by hartleycs » Fri Jan 19, 2018 9:39 am

Hi,
The performance of all my Antminer L3+ workers has dropped by 80% in the last week. Can someone help me understand why?

+1 Not an answer, but I'm having the same issue. Profits down by about 40% and efficiency down to around 85%.

Profits have declined because the price of coins declined and the difficulty increased. 40% sounds about right, as prices have declined by 46% since December. You should expect additional significant declines in profit towards the end of next month, as more miners are released onto the market in the next batch.

Efficiency has declined because of the way that stale shares are counted, as was announced on the forums last week. The actual amount of money earned hasn't changed, but now the mining server returns a value of "rejected" if the primary share is stale, whereas before shares would only be rejected if both the primary and all merge mined portions were stale. The change causes some mining software to now match counts with the website's data, because most mining software doesn't understand the concept of merge mined shares. The only part changed was the return value; what is credited to customers was not changed.

Many thanks for the detailed reply, Steve.
Many of my workers report a status of "No valid shares yet....". Is this a response to the merged shares issue?

Have to give it up to 2 hours to populate.
And be using the correct algo...not having a D3 setup to use X11 for instance, will also result in "NO VALID SHARES YET...." message and it will never resolve as the D3 isnt able to mine scrypt(the default unless your password otherwise specifies a=x11)

Same situation would probably happen if you tried to mine a X11 coin with a L3+ or other type of scrypt miner...no valid shares yet...and never will find them as the systems would be incompatible.
