Here's two comments for today:
  • Chris tells me that Coinking was delisted from Poolpicker and that the site stopped paying out miners. Since we don't mine there, I can't confirm myself that the statement is true. If it is, then this situation reinforces the most frustrating issue with mining: that you can't compete on a level playing field. How do you compete with people who aren't telling the truth? Bitcoin has a few bad people who have a disproportionately negative influence on the community. If this has happened again, it's long past time that operators of dishonest pools should go to prison.
  • As an update to the testing that's going on now, Chris is finding many issues and we are working hard at fixing them. At this point, it's unclear whether we'll be able to complete the testing by Saturday. If not, then we'll release in the middle of the next week, because the upcoming holiday weekend will prevent a release then.

If it's true, then I'm not very shocked. I mined with them for a day or so a while back, and only got actually paid about a third of what I estimated I'd earned, so yeah. Not shocked. As for sending them the big house... I don't see that happening any time soon, just because the laws are so far behind the technology, and will remain so until such time as you don't grin or sigh when you try to imagine explaining the prospective crime to a politician. A civil suit might have better odds.

As for the testing thing, I wouldn't worry too much about the timing of the release. This seems like a 24/7 kind of thing, so I think that you can safely ignore the date and time when deciding when to roll it out to prod. The only impact I think your users are likely to give a damn about is the cumulative downtime. Although, if I were you, I'd get a different construction page than the 'this website hasn't paid their registrar, so we've pwn3d their A records' one you were sporting last time. Just 'sayin.

Yes, I too was not paid fully by CoinKing in my time there. It is a shame too because the setup was indeed very nice.

I mined at COINKING.io for several weeks. Eventually my "balance" stopped increasing and I never made it to a payout. I learned my lesson and moved on to better pools.
