I'm trying to set up litecoinpool for my back up pool and it says "dead." any advice?

well the d=16384 might be too low of a number, remove the d= setting and try that.
as to the litecoin pool, I think you need to create a worker...like carlos and then add that as a . to the username.
litoshi1.carlos
and then check that the worker carlos as 1 as the password.
Try those 2 settings and see how you do.
