ETA for SHA support

Post by HEKA_INNO » Thu Dec 14, 2017 2:27 pm

Team,

I read a bit about possible SHA support and just wanted to understand if this was something simply slated for the future or if it was under active pursuit.

Thanks!

The main limitation for SHA-256 support is building a large enough reserve to be able to handle the variance in bitcoin blocks. We need to have a large reserve in case bitcoin is the most profitable coin and we go days without finding any bitcoins. About a million dollars of reserve will give us a 0.1% chance of bankruptcy, which is acceptable for us.

We were very fortunate yesterday in that we discovered an error Poloniex made with "stuck withdrawals." We had attempted to withdrawal $5000 (1450 litecoins) for customers earlier in the year and lost track of it because it happened in small batches of only 100 LTC and a few hundred bucks wasn't worth as much as we could earn solving other bugs. We contacted Poloniex to get the withdrawal reversed, so because of this discovery we appear to have half the reserve already available.

Oh! Great news with the stuck withdrawal!
You're lucky.

Steve,

Any idea on the timeframe to have acceptable reserves?

We'll have S9s delivered in JAN to supplement L3/D3 machines already running so we're trying to plan where they will point to.
