Second mining server now available

Post by Steve Sokolowski » Wed Dec 06, 2017 8:15 am

Hi,

I'm pleased to announce that our first parallel mining server is now running, two months ahead of schedule.

Parallel mining is completely transparent to customers. You can connect using port 3333 as normal, and you will be assigned at random to one of the servers. All servers run identical code and average out to the same profit over the course of the day, and they communicate with each other to make sure that coins are not overassigned.

The number of connections is now limited to 16,000. If we reach that today and there are no problems, then we will add a third mining server tonight, and a fourth after that, for existing customers. If suppressed demand is so high that more than 32,000 miners want to mine with us, then Chris will need to order and install more hardware before we can open registrations.

Feel free to make any comments, and thanks for your patience while we worked on this improvement!

Thanks,

-Steve Sokolowski

Just so I'm clear, and many thanks for all the improvements, are there any adjustments we need to make to the config on our miners such as L3+? Or will it treat the pool entry in the configuration as two "separate" mining pools? Thanks.

Customers won't even know that there are actually two servers running in parallel. Just continue to connect to the existing ports, and new connections are randomly distributed between the two servers.
