Downtime on Wednesday, April 1

Post by Steve Sokolowski » Mon Mar 30, 2015 9:39 am

There will be several hours of downtime beginning around 6:00pm EDT on Wednesday, April 1.

The purpose of the downtime is to release the database updates and the new website required for work restart optimization. We need to add four columns, which is expected to take about 30 minutes per column. After the release is finished, the existing mining server will be running with the new database and website, so that everyone will still be assigned the same coins as before and the work restart penalty will show up as zero for everyone.

Because this release has such dramatic changes, we want to split it up into two parts, to reduce the number of issues we may introduce at once. We also want to ensure that the existing mining server works perfectly on the updated database, so that when we release the new mining server, we can revert if the new algorithm does not perform as expected.

So is the expected downtime to be about 2 hours then?

It depends on how long the database takes to modify all its rows, but that is about how much time we would estimate.

The maintenance is now complete and the server is back online. Now, enabling the work restart delay optimization, when it is ready, will only require a few minutes.

Hi Branzig,

The payments are not sent in individual transactions for each day or earnings. If you have multiple days worth of earnings, they are summed and then paid as one transaction. If you add all the earnings for each day and then compare it with the one payout, you will see that that are the same.

Also, in the future, could you please make a new post in the support thread instead of replying to unrelated threads? It helps to keep the forums more organized.

Thanks
