L3 HW

Post by TheoD914 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:12 am

So today I checked my Antminer L3+ and I noticed under the HW column under Antminer under Miner Status it showed a 12 instead of a 0 as it was the last few days.

Anyone know what does that mean? Thanks!

These are HW errors, but it is quite normal for an ASIC to have a few of them.
One of my boards gets about 1000 HW errors every hour now, that is a bit much I presume!

What frequency are you running it on?

Theo,

Hardware errors are completely normal for ASIC miners. L3+ is build with 4 boards x 72 each = 288 ASIC chips. It is expected that some chips will miscalculate from time to time. The software - cgminer - is checking real quick each chip hash/share checksum to verify that it's valid. If NOT matching - than chip miscalculated this one and bingo ! Hardware Error ! This is how these ASIC miners are build by design.

What is important in HW statistics is NOT absolute number, but PERCENTAGE shown to the right of it. Everything less than 0.5% is ACCEPTABLE ! Mine miners are running within ~0.2% range.

Hope this will help putting your worries to rest.

Regards,

ZiGen
