Steve/Chris: Issue with botting user

Post by GregoryGHarding » Sat Sep 30, 2017 1:03 am

hey Steve/Chris, just wondering what your policy is for botting on the pool.

you have a user named gestalt whose botting their high hash-rate miners on the top profitability coins, which as you know will bring the pools profitability down, as well as affect solo and static miners income. is there anything you can do to assist in rectifying this issue? I and many other miners put a lot of time and money into mining here, all for it to go to someone whose botting and taking (what would be) our profits from under our feet with little effort..

Yes...it's quite frustrating and it seems to hurt overall profits for the pool.

It's one thing to manually be switching coins for a period of time...but 24/7 blasting may be contributing to the overall low profitability people are seeing.

Either way not cool man....not cool!

Hi, Im new and I've been doing reading on here.
I wont get my miner in until either Monday or Tuesday so I've never used the mining part of it yet.

I'm getting lost on stuff already, how do people make more than the pool by picking what to mine?
I thought the pool picked the best stuff to mine so wez got the best profits? Is there some way to get more?

How can I make my miner to switch my own coin i want to mine so I make more too?
Gestalt is there anyplace to buy the program you use to switch the miners to best coins?

I guess last question, why doesnt the pool use the program Gestalt does so it doesnt matter if he uses it or not?
What's the big deal about using an autoprogram/macro/programmable keyboard? Are they not allowed? Will I get banned? Does this mean I can't use the free version of AWESOME MINER on here? Will I lose all the coins I mined that day if I get caught using awesome miner? I dont want to mess up before I get a change to begin using this place, it seems very cool.

Thanks cant wait to mine on your site next week!

AppleMiner - did you miss the part where it's killing profitability for everyone on the pool? Or do you simply not care about that (Like that ass hat Gestlat)?

Yes and if the pool buys his program wont it all be even again?
Or do we each have to buy a copy?

Ok so looking at the bottom of the charts page if I read this right.
The gestalt guy only mines the coins that dont have the * on them.
And the pool mines all the ones with the * on them.
So if that guy isnt mining the coins we mine why does it matter?
Is there some other pool we need to be in to do what he is doing?
Are there settings to change the pools and what is x-11?

Sorry still reading a lot, thought I read and knew most but more i get into this the more i need to read more.

the star means its due for a block, the block is the most profitable part of the coin, ph will never adopt gestalts way of mining because it KILLS the profitability of the coin

Steve and Chris. Also a lot of new users who know everything, and wont listen to any oldtimers (anyone that has been mining for more that 6 months, so I am a relic at 4+ years) are running all over the posts talking about how they are making way more money with a static difficulty of 2048 submitting 27000 to 30000 shares per 2 hrs. They are trying to make sure they are submitting at least 5 shares a second. I have said that hogs pool resources, I have written posts about share submissions and difficulty, but they said to STFU, and their 1,or 2 or 10 or 100 miners don't make a difference. SO I say if you can't beat them join them, at the very least to prove a point. I set my miners and have talked to others to set their miners difficulty to 2048. Now here we are at 20 minutes behind on share processing.
Please re institute the difficulty setting ignored if more than 1 share a second submitted.

+1 on both issues.

Botters = bad

People with large hashrate and low diff eg 2048 = bad.

Fix.

thx.

Hi Greg,

I looked at this issue and determined that the changes that were made recently will discourage miners from doing what you described.

What you pointed out isn't profitable now. Most of the blocks submitted when a person mines extremely easy networks like that are stale, because there can only be one block submitted per previous block. I wouldn't be surprised if someone who devotes 1 GH/s of hashrate to a coin with difficulty 0.5 ends up with 95% rejected shares. With accurate accounting, it isn't possible to earn profit with so many rejected shares.

However, previously it would have been possible for a person mining a static coin to make more money than he contributed, because he would have been paid for the share difficulty, even if the network difficulty was much lower than the share difficulty. With the Friday change, when a customer statically mines a very easy network, he is only paid at the network difficulty, which brings payouts in line with actual earnings. The reduced earnings are likely to discourage such miners from continuing to mine, given that the large number of rejected shares now matches with how much energy is actually being wasted mining these easy coins.

Since the change has only been active for a day, the miners probably haven't been watching to see that earnings are now less. Over time, I expect that this type of mining will disappear, because the only reason it was profitable was because of a math error.

Thanks,

-Steve
